This is Mirajane Strauss and they call her 'The Demon' because her reputation precedes her.
She destroyed an actual demon when she was just 13 and in the process absorbed it, partially transforming herself to the same beast. Mirajane saved her village from the real evil because the demon had claimed the town's church as its home, and despite being orphans, she and her younger siblings Lisanna and Elfman Strauss were ostracized. Mira blamed herself, sure that she was truly a demon.
Mirajane gains control of her powers, Take Over Magic, a few years later and becomes the second youngest wizard to earn the S-class title. The form that she is in now (look up) is one of her most powerful and is called, Satan Soul; Sitri.
When the deciding factor is physical strength alone, a battle with Mirajane is over even before it began and so to match her up with worthy opponents, most times the deciding factor isn't strength alone but still, The Demon prevails.
Once, Hiro Mashima - the author of Fairy Tail - said that if Erza Scarlet (another badass chic) were to go head to head with Mirajane Strauss, Mira would most definitely win! This beauty of a character is greatly loved and it is her warm motherly nature that draws so much love but beneath the warm, cuddly and motherly exterior lies a vicious and ruthless past, flashes of which can be seen without warning.
