Completely calm under pressure and having the ability to move with a strength and precision that is clearly above human capacity; she is a monster on the battlefield and her name is Mikasa.
At the age of eight, or there about, her hand was forced to make her first kill. It was the night her parents died and the night she was saved by her now adoptive brother, Eren Yeager, but as we speak Miss Ackerman has 9 Titans kills under her belt, and counting.
The night that her life was dipped in anguish, Mikasa was kidnapped and Eren Yeager tracked her and her kidnappers down, gave her a reason to fight and the will to live. I'm still not sure what it is exactly but that night, Mikasa awoke something scarier than Titan abilities. She lost her parents to the traffickers but took more than a pound of flesh in return: her first kill was one of the human traffickers.
Still, there is more to Ackerman Mikasa than meets the eye but what troubles me the most is that I can't place my finger on it. She might be a killing machine, sure, but she without a doubt loves her brother. Her sad eyes tell a tale of pain and of lingering darkness but you will never see them in tears. Her personality is honestly still more of a mystery but one thing is certain, she is not interested in relationships.
When Jean, her fellow cadet, complimented her beautiful long black hair, this independent damsel cut the hair that afternoon and saved Jean from his distress, an aggressively efficient way to say "don't disturb me". Still, I can tell that Mikasa isn't just a cold blooded killer, she might be reserved but she builds bonds with people, slowly yes but undeniably. When she had the opportunity to kill Rinner and Berthot, the Colossal and Armored Titans in their human form, she hesitated despite later regreting it but she hesitated nevertheless; she definitely still has a heart.
The plot of the "Attack Titan" (or Attack on Titian, as people like to also translate) has me speculating a lot, especially since (spoiler alert!) Eren has less that 8 years to live. So after his death what would become of Mikasa, what are her personal goals? Would she like Captain Levi Ackerman be lonely, forever in the shadow of a new light or would she forge her own way and be a source of strength for others? Would she transcend the Ackerman curse of doing others' bidding or would she simply end up becoming someone else's blade, like her relative?
Whatever the future holds, one thing is sure in the present and that is: Mikasa will kill for the love of Eren! #noRomance
