Jacket flapping in the wind, hair flowing without care; Harribel's eyes are blank and emotionless as always. The number on the right side of her left breast stands for her rank, she is an Arrancar, a high level hollow; Harribel is Espada No. 3!
Hollows are beings with supernatural powers, ghosts if you will, the manifestation of pain or grief and what becomes of a human soul after death if...
You know what, that's not important.
Harribel found herself in a world completely different from ours yet all too familiar. Her world was operating, in some respects, in the same way as ours: males tended to be physically stronger than their female counterparts and they abused that fact.
One hollow has the ability to absorb another to become stronger and so the male hollows would hunt females since they were easier targets than other males. Harribel, however, proved them wrong, she was more than just surviving in Heuco Mundo (the hollow world) she was thriving. She fought shoulder to shoulder with any male hollow she came up against and was even able to rescue three female hollows from the fate of being men's meals.

Appacci Emilou, Franceska Mila Rose, and Cyan Sung-Sun, these are the women Harribel saved and they would come to find in her a leader like no other, a woman they could die for and a friend that would die for them.
The female Espada - espada meaning sword in Spanish by the way - and her protegées found out a simple truth that we usually forget, "There is strength in numbers". Together, they could face foes that they, especially her Protegées, could not individually surmount and with this logic engraved in their hearts, they were killing it.
One day Souske Aizen comes along - don't ask where from, or who he is, long story - and gives the ladies power that hollows could only dream of, the power of an Arranca, the power to take off their masks and gain Shinigami (Death reaper) powers. For Harribel, she received the title of Espada in addition and was ranked the third strongest in the whole of Heuco Mundo, hence the No. 3 on the boob.
Despite their new powers, the girls still maintained their tight bond and it was this bond that made them more terrifying to the Captains of the Gotei 13 - don't ask who these are, another long thing.
Tier Harribel was strong but she saw the need to stand up for other babes in need, there is nothing more respectable than that, she could have easily unlooked and there would have been no consequences. In return, her protegées became her spear and shield and deadly ones at that, together it can be argued that they were invincible.

PS: ...but this piece can't end without a brief comment on her outfit. I've always been a fan of cropped tops, but hers is the ultimate! Sadly the anime had to sensor her bosoms but it still looked cool. If you feel you want to wear a crop top like Tier Harribel, do well to send me a picture so I can draw you.
